The series "What We Do Not See" is an exploration both of light and of self.
As a person with a life-long stutter, yet who also presents as mostly fluent, the hard work that goes into maintaining fluent speech is not immediately seen yet looms large over my thoughts and day-to-day interactions. What is illuminated and outward facing is often much different than what exists in the shadows.
In these images various subjects and spaces are illuminated while the source of that light is largely omitted fromthe frame. That space, between the light source and where the light falls, is often where assumptions are made and trust can be lost.
Here I present my trust and offer that what we initially see is almost never the fully story.
